About us

Our school is situated in the heart of Bristol, close to the docks and the Clifton Suspension Bridge. The school building is full of character and, together with the school grounds, is used creatively to provide a stimulating learning environment. We have a fabulous ‘Garden for Life’ in which children and parents grow a surprising variety of produce! Some of the fruit and vegetables harvested each year are used by our cook in our school dinners for the children to enjoy.

We have a nursery that currently offers part-time places for children from the age of three, followed by seven classes; one for each year group from Reception to Class 6. We have a wonderful mix of social and cultural backgrounds represented in our school which we highly value and which helps us to celebrate the diverse community, city and world in which we live.

'Pupils are exceptionally well-behaved'

Our school is a happy place with a warm and friendly atmosphere. Ofsted reported that ‘Pupils are exceptionally well-behaved’ and they are right!  Our policy of positive behaviour management ensures that children are able to learn in a calm and well-managed environment which builds their confidence and self esteem so that they are able to achieve their best.

Parents play an important part in school life. As well as having a very active PTA, many parents help in school and we have well-established home-school links.  We also have a highly skilled and supportive Governing Body.

We are proud to be an ‘eco-school’; we have achieved our bronze award and are now working towards our silver award. Children learn to value and look after the environment in many ways, supporting a positive and optimistic view of their futures.

We have a ‘Healthy Schools’ award and a ‘Sport England’ award, reflecting the high value we place on giving our pupils the opportunities they need to develop fit and healthy lifestyles. We have a range of extra-curricular activities, run by both staff and outside agencies that complement activities during the school day.

Lunchtimes are an important part of the school day. We have a great lunchtime staff team who organise a range of activities and make sure the children have safe and happy lunchtimes.
